Setup & the Wall

The Deal

Each player receives 13 tiles to start, except East, who receives 14 and immediately has a decision to make.

Tiles are dealt face-down, moving around the table from the break point, until every player has their starting hand. Because East holds one extra tile from the very start, East effectively takes the first turn without needing to draw.

Example

After the deal, three players hold 13 tiles each and East holds 14 — one tile ahead of everyone else for that very first turn.
