Turn Play & Calling

Picking a Tile

On your turn, you draw the next tile from your section of the wall and add it to your hand before deciding what to discard.

You always have the option to draw normally when it's your turn, even if you could call an available discard instead — some players prefer picking so they don't have to expose a set.

Example

Drawing gives you a look at a tile no one else has seen yet, which is why some players hold out for a self-pick Mah Jongg instead of calling a winning discard.
