Jokers

Jokerless Hands

Some patterns on the NMJL card explicitly forbid Jokers anywhere in the hand, and are usually worth more points because they're harder to complete.

A Jokerless hand must be built entirely from natural tiles — no substitutions anywhere, exposed or concealed. Singles and Pairs categories are almost always Jokerless by design.

Example

If a hand's listing on the card doesn't allow Jokers, every matching set has to come from tiles you drew or were passed naturally.
