Dead Hand
Consequences of a Dead Hand
A player with a dead hand keeps drawing and discarding like anyone else but can no longer declare a winning Mah Jongg for the rest of that round.
Some groups also expect a dead hand to keep discarding normally rather than stalling, since it no longer has a stake in winning. Confirm your group's house rule on this before play.
Example
A dead-handed player still takes normal turns and can still be called on for a Joker exchange, but simply can't call "Mah Jongg" no matter what they draw.
