An NMJL card category built entirely from the odd numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
The 13579 category is one of the longstanding core categories on the NMJL card. Like 369, it is retained from year to year, but the individual hands within the category are redesigned annually.
Typically:
- The category remains: 13579 (odd-numbered tiles only).
- The hand patterns change each year.
- The changes may include:
- different groupings of 1s, 3s, 5s, 7s, and 9s.
- one-, two-, or three-suited versions.
- different uses of flowers, dragons, or winds.
- exposed versus concealed hands.
- different point values .
